Cataract and Intraocular Refractive Surgery
The only effective treatment for cataracts is surgery.
Cataract surgery involves removing the clouded lens and replacing it with a clear artificial lens. The most common method of cataract extraction is phacoemulsification because this procedure uses the smallest incision, thus enabling the fastest healing, and is usually the preferred procedure.
To select the optimal intraocular lens, the Verion (Alcon, USA) and Callisto eye (Zeiss Meditec AG, Germany) diagnostic support systems are used. This allows to measure all the required parameters of the eye, calculate the strength and the position of the artificial lens in accordance with the individual parameters of the patient and to navigate surgeon during the procedure.
